Data Gathering, Analysis, and Process Optimization

Johnson Space Center (JSC) - Internship
Looking for a motivated intern to examine aspects of the Engineering Directorate's IT infrastructure and associated processes, gather data (some of which may not be readily available), analyze that data for patterns and trends, and ultimately recommend process and management improvements that will affect IT systems and usage across the largest directorate at JSC. Other opportunities exist based on candidate skill set in the areas of website design, information management, and IT security.

Expected outcome: At the completion of the internship period the candidate will be expected to produce an orderly and maintainable dataset, a set of recommendations based on analysis of that dataset, and a summary presentation of findings and recommendations to EA5 management.
Student's special skills: Required skills include proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques. Other skills desired but not necessarily required include proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint 2010/2013, experience with Microsoft Excel pivot tables, familiarity with ITIL, Microsoft VISIO experience, familiarity with creating presentations in Microsoft Powerpoint, experience with database languages like SQL, and experience with a scripting language like PHP, Perl, Javascript, or Python.
