|Biography: At Georgia Institute of Technology, I have outreached to K-12 students through various student organizations. As a Goizueta Foundation Scholar and a member of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, I volunteer at college fairs and phone-a-thons, where I share my passion for the STEM field and inform them about scholarships and opportunities available to intern at a NASA research center. I volunteered at AT&T High Tech Day and spoke to 20+ high school students about college, internships and the field of engineering. As a Georgia Business Aviation Association (GBAA) Scholar, I volunteered together with Women in Aviation at the Girls and Boy Scouts Aviation Day teaching kids about the principles of flight and aeronautics. As part of Robojacket's electrical engineering group, I mentored students from Tech High School at the FIRST Robotics team competitions. I helped workshop training sessions, where we taught students to work in the shop and use equipment. Every other week, I tutor K-12 Hispanic students in science and mathematics at La Amistad Outreach Center. As part of the Georgia Tech Honors Program I volunteer as a student panelist to advise incoming freshmen about selecting engineering courses and available tutoring resources to help them succeed. I also motivate the students to challenge themselves and take small sections of rigorous Honor courses that involve department innovative inquiry and exploration. These courses later help them perform higher in other courses and help them find their interest in research. During my summer internship at the Kennedy Space Center, I participated in a Minority Student Education Forum. At this event, I spoke to 5th-12th graders and shared my experience working for NASA and answer questions on the college process, opportunities, and the importance of being involved. Through these extracurricular activities and volunteering, I have had the opportunity to help and make a positive impact on my fellow students.|
